The contest is open to businesses, organizations and individuals. The rules are simple:
- Your creation does not have to be a house. It can be a barn, church, castle or some other structure.
- The walls of the structure must be made of gingerbread.
- Everything in your scene must be totally edible.
- The scene must be no larger than 30"x40"
- You must call Viking Plaza Merchants Association at 763-9209 on or before November 22 to register.
- Your entry must be delivered to Viking Plaza on November 27.
- $500 for best of show and win up to $300 in these categories:
Most creative design
Best house made by youth under 18
Best local landmark
People's choice
Because the cost of supplies for one of these houses can be quite high, we suggest that you get a corporate sponsor to help defray the cost of supplies. If you have a sponsor, the name of your sponsor will appear along with your name on our display.
Judging will take place on November 28, but winners will not be announced until December 11. Houses will be displayed until December 18.
As contestants did last year, you will be able to auction your house off for a charity of your choice in a silent auction. If you prefer, you can exclude your house from the auction.
